Julius Yls Won 2nd Place In National Geographic Travel Photographer Of The Year 2017

Julius Yls won 2nd place in People category at National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year 2017 contest. His photograph titled "Interesting Moment" has made thru the very competitive selection from more than 15,000 entries from photographers living and working in more than 30 countries.

Julius's photograph perfectly captures a nicely ironic juxtaposition between the museum visitors and the figures in the painting, which are captivating the audience. In a case of art imitating life, Yulius’s image shows both sets of people watching the other.

The competition’s judging panel was made up of Molly Roberts, National Geographic senior photography editor; Benjamin Lowry, adventure and underwater photographer; and Jody MacDonald, adventure and sports documentary photographer.
